The Immaterial Exhibit
This week I got to speak with artists Robert and Elmer, who both share the same perspective of how they view art. Robert uses broken pieces of wood, metal, and cardboard to show that the materials used don’t matter, is what I took away from that. Then, figures in his work are people who have inspired him through out his life. For example, the photo on the right, is a representation of Robert’s mentor in art during his youth. As for Elmer, his work is based of homeless people he’s meet in LA and photographs them. Then, he makes a painting out of the photo with his own interpretation of the environment. Both of them are transfer students to Cal State.
